National Certification Commisssion for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) has a search feature for acupuncturists (and it can be very helpful for fertility issues)

http://www.nccaom.org/find/index.html is the main site–you will need to click on another link but it’s a secure link (and I’m not sure if it would work to just click there)

Acupuncturists listed here have all passed the National Board and should be NCCAOM diplomates. CA doesn’t require this for their state, having their own tests, so I am not certain how useful that is.

While some acupuncturists have doctorates now (new program in the last 10 years) and New Mexico calls them doctors, in the vast majority of states the practitioner level is the master’s degree level and they are merely considered ‘licensed’ rather than Doctor.

This is a fantastic post, Carrie! Thank you for the insight! We have a great pediatrician that I love, but I’m still in search of a doctor that I like for my husband and me. I’ll have to go digging around those links!
